Passing of Past NEC Ray Hendrix

Robert Ray Hendrix was born in 1932 in Bulloch County and died Thursday evening September 3, 2015, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice House, he was 83.

Ray was the only person from Georgia to be nominated and honored as Legionnaire of the Decade.
He was honored in Washington as National Guard Recruiter of the Year for Georgia for 2 consecutive years.
Ray served in the American Legion for over 60 years in many post, state, and national positions including Post, District, and Department Commander, Judge Advocate of Post 90 and State of GA, and elected National Executive Committeeman of GA serving 10 years.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00am in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Dr. Harry Sherrer officiating, assisted by Rev. Carlton Hendrix.
Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be all American Legion and Auxiliary members and the staff of the Statesboro VA Clinic.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459.
