Message from Detachment Commander Zeste C. Debro

Jun 24, 2014

What an honor to serve as the Detachment Commander for a second term. I would like to say thank-you to my Legion Family for your support last year in moving our Detachment to the fore front again.

“Proud Possessor of a Priceless Heritage”, this is why we serve to honor our Grandparents and Parents serve in the United State Military.

The Sons mission this year is to support Veterans and their Family and the policies of The American Legion.

Everything that the Sons could be involved in could be group into these three areas:

1.   VA&R – Supporting Veterans in the Nursing Homes and VA Hospital. We must be in our hospital on visits. (Reps and Deps)
2.   Promoting Patriotism and Americanism this we cannot lose our Nation was built on.
3.   Children and Youth – perhaps the most important, teaching the fundamental of good citizenship and improving the quality of life with our programs.
Some of the Detachment Goals for 2014-2015:
Leaders Training Development- Leaders train the trainer so the trainer can develop our future Detachment leaders. We had four SAL Leader workshops and we are looking to provide more.
Membership- As we look back at last year we improve on membership but we need to maintain who will have and develop a plan for growth. Renewal 85% and a growth of 300 members.

Please keep this in mind there are 570,000 Veterans in Georgia we the Sons can tap into these numbers and help the Legion Family. As Sons of the American Legion we need to Develop, Communicate and advertise your programs and who we are.

Again we can make it happen “Serve Action Leadership
