Suicide Prevention Month is underway

Sep 23, 2013

Everybody!!

Suicide Prevention Month is underway, and I want to update you on the features and resources designed to help spread the word about the confidential support available from the Veterans Crisis Line.

§ Suicide Prevention Month page. All of VA's Suicide Prevention Month tools and resources can be found on one dedicated landing page: VeteransCrisisLine.net/SPM .

§ Public toolkit. Posters, flyers, social media and other written content, Web banners, and TV and radio public service announcements are available for the public to download and share at VeteransCrisisLine.net/SPMToolkit . Let your networks and friends know. Don't see what you're looking for? Email SpreadTheWord@VeteransCrisisLine.net for support with custom materials.

§ Photo campaign. VA is encouraging Veterans and their loved ones to share what matters to them through a photo-sharing campaign. Upload a picture showing what matters to you or a Veteran you know at VeteransCrisisLine.net/SPM/Gallery .

§ Public service announcement (PSA). "Talking About It Matters" emphasizes the fact that reaching out to a Veteran in crisis can make all the difference. The PSAs are available in English and Spanish for both TV and radio, in a variety of lengths and formats. Check out the PSA at VeteransCrisisLine.net/SPMToolkit/#video .

§ SPC portal. The SPC portal contains materials available only to SPCs. Log in to VeteransCrisisLine.net/SPC with username: vaspc and password: videos2011% to access posters, flyers, Web ads, and other materials to help you in your effort to reach more Veterans.

We are telling supporting organizations and individuals about these tools so they can better help us get the word out. I plan to share highlights from our outreach efforts throughout the month, and ask that you send us any photos or screen shots of notable Suicide Prevention Month activity.

Thanks for all you do, and here's to a successful Suicide Prevention Month!
