New Blood Donor Program
Starting the week of 9-11-2012, The American Legion Department of Georgia will be holding week long blood drives at Donor Centers all over the state. The donor centers will call this "American Legion Blood Donor Week". So far we have the following organizations onboard Red Cross, Life South, Atlanta Blood Services, Blood Assurance, Shepeard (Augusta), Southeastern and Blood Alliance (coastal GA).
The first week long drive will be held the week of 9-11, next drive the week of Veterans Day Nov 11, next the week of Valentines Day and lastly April 21-27, 2013. All sign in sheets will be sent to the District Blood Donor Chairman who will forward the information to the posts so they can keep track and include these numbers on their consolidated post report form.
Pass the word to all Legion family members so they can become involved. If your post is already holding blood drives keep doing what you are doing, this is not meant to replace blood drives. We are missing credit for many donor/members who donate at donor centers and this is a way we can follow those donations.
If you know of any other donation centers than those listed above please contact Bill Beaudin at 770-919-7109 so we can contact them and get them involved.
